Volunteering

Volunteers are always appreciated. See a testimonial of their good work at Prevention Services.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping ABVI meet its mission. Volunteering at ABVI can be a rewarding experience - a chance to meet new friends, learn new things, and help others.

Our volunteers also:

  • Help out with client activities that bring blind and visually impaired people together for fun and learning.
  • Provide transportation to activities and medical appointments.
  • Conduct vision screenings for children, adults, and senior citizens. Often these screenings help make sure a child does not go to school without needed glasses or helps an older adult catch an eye disease before it can no longer be treated.
  • Put together mass mailings in a fun and friendly gathering. This is a great way to meet other people and help ABVI reach out to our community.
  • Help with fundraisers, make phone calls, be an office assistant.
  • Provide speaking for public education in-services.

Our volunteers receive full training for the areas they will be working in. Drivers may elect to have mileage reimbursed.
